prepping concrete floor for tile

I have a concrete floor. It had plywood nailed to it with short concrete nails. When I pulled up the damaged plywood there is left many small divots one eight inch deep in the concrete. I want to tile the floor. I wanted to lay the tile to the concrete floor with no underlayment, because it runs up to another floor surface with ever little transition height. What would be the best way to prep the floor for tile.

This is an old post, but I'm thinking that if the concrete is clean and in other wise good condition, reasonably level and flat, that all you need is thinset appropriate to your tile and the tile. If there is a difference in the levels between rooms, then use a transition.

Plywood is not an appropriate tile underlayment on top of concrete, anyway. Maybe a layer of Dittra if that doesn't result in too much of a transition.
