Tiling over tile
#1
I'm trying to update a bathroom which has old, ugly tile that is however in good condition.
I've seen the post about tiling over old tile. Are there any special suggestions about doing this? Can one just put the mud right over the old tile and proceed (assuming of course that the old tile is sound?).
Any references on this?
Thanks much.

Hey Sean,
Use a polymer/latex modified thinset. (the good stuff about 25 bucks per bag) and use that. Make sure to clean the tile well with a good quality tile cleaner, a stiff brush, and some elbow grease. As long as the existing tile is sound and in good shape you should be good to go.
