Sub-Floor Style Preference

Should I rip out the 1/2' x 8' panel sub floor and replace it with 1/2' ply? There's diagonal base floor below the 1/2' x 8' panel sub floor. I plan on placing 1/4inch hardibacker on top of one of those and tiling.

Add screws to what's there now, then go over the whole floor with at least 1/2 subfloor rated plywood.
Ceramic coated decking screws work best.
It needs to be fastened every 4"on the edges and from 6 to 8" in the field.
No need to remove what's there unless you need the clearance.
You can not just go over what's there with the tile board.
