Shower bench question

I would like to know if it is feasible to build a shower bench using concrete blocks in a shower that is already tiled. If so, how?

Hi Buzcar,

It's not a good idea to build a bench that way now that the shower is finished. You won't be able to properly seal the new joints and water will get behind the new bench.

You can do it this way; Better-Bench | Innovis Corporation

I didn't look for it, but there's a video or instruction on how to add a bench after the fact as you wanna do. Just have to silicon the holes when you screw the bench in. (Remember, tile and grout/caulk is not how you waterproof a shower.)

If space in the shower is at a premium you can install a retractable bench. We installed this one a couple of weeks ago for a wheelchair bound person to transfer to. It sits solidly on the legs, but they all fold up out of the way when necessary.
