Unglazed Porcelain Tile - always feels gritty?

I recently put in unglazed porcelain tile on my basement floor, and it always feels gritty/dirty. I have cleaned it dozens of times, but I wish I had gotten a glazed tile instead.

Is there anything that can be done to polish the tile to make it feel smoother??

Thanks!

Whatever you do, Don't put a coat of wax, on it. Even if it feels better, it will create another problem. You'll drown, in scuff marks.

When I worked in building maintenance, in NYC, one of the tenants wanted their granite floor to shine so my boss told me to do a sample wax, in the corner. I said, no sample. Either we wax it or we don't. They decided to wax it. What a horror! They should have left it alone.

I suggest you do the same.

Call A tile store or the manufacture if possible and ask if there is any type of coating (silicone??) that might be applied to help.

Asperber,

I'd like to at least see what your tiles look like, I doubt very much that they're unglazed, they may be dull and or textured, but they're probably glazed. Glazed does not mean shiny, glazed tiles can be dull too.

Got a pic or link we can see?
