hardwood under wall to wall

Just removed carpeting from two rooms and found beautiful hardwood underneath. The problem is now I have the tack strip and staple holes from the carpet. Can that be repaired, and how do you do that?

Thanks

John

You can see it and we can't. Pull up all the tack strip and staples and see how it looks - might be worth refinishing, might not.

If the only damage is from the tack strip - it can be filled and sanded. Anything minor is easy to hide with filler.

Any form of filler is going to show, even the so called "stainable fillers".
Been there done that way to many times trying to show customers.

See above for how to insert pictures.

For me, I would leave it alone until you decide if you want to invest in refinishing. The Paste filler used in refinishing will hide most of the nail holes/bleeding and fill gaps between planks.

The nails holes will always be visible, but just adds character.

If you have a typical White or Red Oak Plank floor from the 50's or earlier, you will not believe how beautiful this can look when refinished.
