Removing faux brick over plaster

Just asking this out of curiosity because I don't think we want to put the effort into actually doing it, but...

Our house is old and has plaster-lath walls. One wall of our kitchen has faux brick on it over the plaster. It looks like they put mortar on the plaster and set the bricks in the mortar.

Would it pretty much destroy the wall to try to take these things down?

I doubt you could remove them without some damage to the walls [they can be repaired] How much damage depends on the condition of the plaster, how well the tiles were attached and how much care you use removing them.
