Question

At the suggestion of the painter, had him paint the slate floor in foyer black. He used all purpose enamel and a polyurethane coat. I know he cleaned floor first with a strong cleaner. Paint is chipping and marking very easily. He won't return my calls and I need to know what I can do to make it presentable. This job is only 2 months old and foyer has minimal traffic. I don't think a sealer of any kind was put down first. Can I do anything to keep it in tact at this point?

Slate is very soft, and I think painting it was a mistake. I happen to know a painter, though, who is also a tile setter. Log onto his site and post to his board.
