Can I put ceramic tile on a bathroom cabinet door?

I have several cabinet (under sink) doors in my bathroom that I'd like to decorate. They are some sort of wood and have a raised frame of trim. They are pretty standard bathroom fare. I would like to put a ceramic tile design on each door with the trim as a frame. I imagine that the tile would come close to being level with the trim. I have never seen this done, is there any reason I should abandon this notion altogether? Are there factors I need to consider before starting? Are there any basic steps I should use if this is indeed possible?
Thanks so much,

Becca

Hi Becca,

I've never seen it done, but it sounds like a plan to me. As long as the doors never get wet, you shouldn't have any problems. You can use mastic or Liquid Nails to mount your tiles -- even latex caulking will work if you can hold them in place until it sets.

Grout with regular grout. Can't foresee any problems, unless the weight pulls the doors off their hinges :-)
