Question

I have decided on laying marble or porcelain tile in the entry way. The tile store guy tells me that marble and porcelain tiles do not have bullnose tiles. So how does one
finish the end tile. The entry way has a step down into the family room.
Thanks

If it's to be marble, it can be ground and polished on the edge. If it's to be porcelain, you'll definitely need something because you can't grind it and polish it. It can be done, but you can't do it. It's done in a shop.

Check out the really neat nosings available from Schluter.

Bougth Porcelain tiles, started prep work

So I purchased porcelain tiles, from HD after much waiting and constant calls to HD got the tiles.
First I layed the tiles on the existing floor. I have tiles in the entry way and lino. in the entry bath.

removed the lino. from the bath and the one layer of plywood.

I am planning to tile the new porcelain tile 16x16 on the existing tile 6x6. Will place a cement board in the entry bath. Tired now will start tomorrow
First thing to get 10 porcelain tiles bullnosed and polished. sand the tiles.

Will post progress.

Wink

It would be a lot easier ( and Cheaper) to use a metal stairnosing or tile edging...not to mention it will protect the edge from chipping. If you're intent on having a bullnose made on 10 tile, you can expect to pay $10 to $15 per tile.

Smile Done laying tiles

Spent the weekend laying the tiles,
bullnosing the tile cost me $68.00 for 10 tiles
The entryway looks great, everything went well
for the most part, the grout color seems
lighter than what is shown on the box.
Maybe I will darken it out somehow????

Total cost for the entire project:

Porcelain Tiles 100 sq ft $550
Tile saw rental 2 days $110.00
Bull nose ( 10 tiles ) $68.00
Misc. stuff (mortar,
grout, tools )from
Home Depot $120.00

Total cost: $848.00
+ a sore body.

Had fun doing it.
