Question

I found a few small (32") round wooden top tables and I want to create a mosaic pattern - however I have never worked with tile and I don't know where to begin. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I would make a trip down to a place that specializes in ceramic tile. Bring a table top with you. Most of the big tile places sell pre-fabricated mosaic patterns already attached to webbing. Pick the pattern you like, cut it to fit the table top, fasten it down with adhesive, and then grout it. I would use an epoxy type of adhesive.
Good luck.

Terry, Tom is right about the availability of pre-fab mosaic patterns, but they tend to get expensive. You might try drawing a design on the table top and then cutting/breaking pieces of tile to fit the design.

Do not plan on using the table outdoors, though. The wood won't hold up for long.

Also, there is a site in the U.K. that deals with all aspects of mosaic art.

Lots of luck,
