I am using 2 1/4" ceramic tiles and 1/8" spacers on a wall.
Do I need to remove the spacers or just grout over them.

There is a least 1n 1/8" space from spacer surface to tile surface.

Hi LJ,

I'll probably get whacked by the tile police for saying this, but I would leave the spacers in as long as they're not near the surface. Too much of a pain to remove them, and they won't cause any problems anyway.

Cutting already-installed ceramic tile

Hi...My bathroom has a single light switch above a single electrical outlet over the ceramic tiled wall. I want to add an outlet and a switch for a vent fan next to the current switch, which will obviously require a double wide gang box. My concern is how to cut into the existing opening in the ceramic tile, doubling its size to accommodate my new outlet, without damaging the surrounding ceramic tiled wall. tile grout failure

We have tiled our tub surround using 5 X 5 glazed white tile that has a hand-made appearance ("Latina" by Tena). The tiles are 3/8 inch thick and are spaced 1/8 inch apart. For an old-fashioned look that sets off the tile field, we have chosen a pewter- grey grout ( "Polyblend" unsanded). We are using unsanded because the tiles are glazed and we don't want to scratch them with a sanded product. We did a test section that seemed to go fine but the next day noticed cracks in the grout. We scaped it all out and are ready to start over but don't know what went wrong. Any suggestions? Another question: Is there a tool that is used to smooth the grout? Last question: We would like to recess the grout a bit (not having it level with the tile face) in order to set it off. Is there any problem with this? We appreciate all your help!
