How to deal with leftover thinset on backer board after tile removal?

I took up some old tile and want to lay new tile. I have patches of leftover thinset all over the floor. I angle grinded a small patch and it worked great but it was so dusty. Any advice for a better option. Here's a pic if that'll help....

The only time I removed tile to reinstall I was able to scrape the thin set off but it was work, if you need the grinder get a big wet vac to help control dust!
