How to clean slate with milky paint residue

We had painting done and some paint got on blue slate in our entranceway. It was cleaned before drying with water but a modest milky film remains. I've read about alcohol or mild dish detergent (Dawn) but have not tried anything. I also considered 1,000 grit sanding. I don't believe the slate is sealed.

Thoughts please on the way to remove it.

I'd probably use goof off on a clean cotton rag.

So give the non-petroleum products first, then move up to the stronger cleaners if needed.

I would absolutely not use any type of sandpaper, the will ruin the finish!

Denatured alcohol and products like 'goof off' and 'oops' will dissolve latex paints. You'll want to turn or replace the rag often.

If you use sandpaper, the scratches will be permanent.

Tile around outlets

We had ceramic tile installed on our backsplash today. When I came home I see this is how they cut around the outlets and switches. Is this right? The outlets will not sit flush against the tile. Maybe they shouldn't and this is standard? Or did cut corners (or not literally) [attach]111627[/attach] [attach]111628[/attach]

We are replacing our tile floors with hardwood. The tiles were 18” squares and came up pretty easily. But the backer boards were glued (thin set?) and nailed. It took about 3 hours to remove a 12’x3’ section in the hall. I still have the kitchen, dining room, entry way and breakfast bar to remove. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting that material up without killing my self? Thanks!
