How do i partition a room?

ok, due to the covid thing going on, I am now a work from home employee. Problem with my situation is I have 5 kids in a 3 bedroom house. (We bought tbe house as a 5 person family... but shortly after buying the house, we found some kids in our close family in danger.... i made a complaint to the courts and a few days later we had custody... that was like 3 years ago now.) We have one room that's not being used but the problem is its right next to the kitchen, dining room, and living room and I dont have a door I can close. That is where my work office is now. There is molding between the rooms to define it as two different rooms, but the entry way is much wider than a normal entry way. Any ideas how I can close that room off so I can deaden the noises outside the room?

Barn door hardware with double sliding doors might be something to consider. Barn doors dont fit tight against the wall or floor, so there will still be gaps around the sides, but as long as the doors are several inches wider than the opening is, it will help with privacy somewhat. Houses I have worked in have had offices with double sliding full glass wood doors mounted on barn door hardware on the inside of the room... But you'd need wall space on both sides for them to be fully open.

You can go from hanging curtains to finishing the wall with doors, what level of investment are you willing to do?

Ive watched enough Bob villa and home improvement episodes, im almost to the point of ripping the drywall apart, buying a framed door and extending the studs and drywalling it all in. Ive never done anything like this before. Ive hung drywall once. Keep thinking how hard could it be?

Its a simple process but you have to take it one step at a time, everybody started with their first project at some point in time!
