Edge of tile and cement board exposed This is picture of tile and cement board
Hired handyman to put tile above tub surround this outside corner is exposed he said to put trim over it doesn't sound right to me but don't have other options any advice would be welcomed Thank you
Handymen quite often tend to get in over their head. Kind of looks like one of those instances if he left the job incomplete for you to finish. Yes, a trim could be applied to cap the end of the tile, but his tile job isn't even straight! Not sure I would call him back, but yes, trimming the end and caulking it is all you can do at this point. It would have been better if the trim was there first because at least then he could have made the tile look as straight as the trim is.
We installed a new gas fireplace in our basement finish. The backside of the fireplace is in an unfinished storage space. For the backside, I was going to just put in a couple 1/4" WonderBoard Lite cement boards. They're going to remain unfinished as their primary purpose is to just prevent access to touching the fireplace (especially when it's running).
The problem is that I noticed while driving home with the WonderBoards in the back that these things STINK. Stood them up in the garage to air out overnight. Is this the type of thing that will go away over time, or should I go with a different cement board brand instead?
I'm replacing carpeting with tile and trying to figure out what to do with the threshold. The existing laminate wood flooring is taking up most of the jam, so if I were to just add a tile threshold I've only got about 1 3/8" to work with. The narrowest threshold I've seen is 2" and I know I won't make a straight cut down the length of a threshold. Should I explore getting a custom cut? Should I explore trying to get the laminate threshold out of there to be able to put a wider tile threshold in? I'm not sure it is coming out easily but that might be my only option?
Thank you for any suggestions!
