There's always a way, isn't there? :-)
You can use an electric sander with course paper to "sand" the material off the back of the tile.
You can, depending on the type of tile, submerse the piece into a bucket of acid to loosen the cement. It must be noted, though, that acid can destroy many types of ceramic glaze.
