Bed the backer board in thin set. Spread it with a 1/4 in. notched trowel. One board at a time. Nail it down immediately.

One more quick question
I have read that i need to fill the joints and tape them, do I do this when i am laying the tile or separately before hand? what about the screws countersink or flush?

Thanks again fir all the help for this first timer!

Wink

Before hand is easier..actually just after you lay the cement board is good. Screws should be flush..counter sunk will damage the mesh holding the board together.
