Question

I am in the process of remodeling a shower that had a leaky drain. I have removed all the existing tile and sheetrock inside the shower and have had a plumber install a new drain and vinyl/rubber membrane for waterproofing. I know to use greenboard for the walls behind the new tile but what is the best way to prepare the floor for tiles? The original floor was cement. Is there somethig easier than using cement for the new floor that I can tile over? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Do NOT use greenboard for the walls or for anything else. Use cement backer board -- Durock, Wonder Board, Perma Base, etc.

Here's an illustrated article on ceramic tile shower floors.
