Unhappy

We want to tile existing kitchen floor that has linoleum with wood subfloor.

Problem is that our trash compactor and dishwasher will not have enough clearance from countertop after tile is installed. Please does anyone have suggestions on how to remedy this problem?

Hi Dickie,

It would be unusual if you couldn't find enough room to raise the appliances. You have removed the front panels and looked at the legs? There is usually some adjustment.

Measuring from the underside of the counter to the floor, you need a minimum of 34 -1/2 in. to install a dishwasher. Anything over that can be taken up with tile and underlayment.

Most people have done away with the compactors. I don't see them going into new homes. You could take it out and install a wine rack in its place.
