Smile Tiling

I have heard that you can tile with ceramic tiles on top of other ceramic tiles. Is this true, and if so is there any special preparation that needs to be done?

Installing tile over old tile

The only time it is feasible to install new tile over old is if the old tile is in good shape and there is no cracking or crumbling of the old tile or grout. Then, there are experts who debate this.

If you have any cracking or crumbling, there are some very good reasons why this is happening. The tile should be removed and structural issues addressed and recommended concrete underlayment used before installing new tile.

Ditto...if the old tile and floor is in good shape...then installing on top is an option. Just be sure to use a good quality polymer modified thin set.
