SALTILLO TILE - Restoration
14 years ago, we had Saltillo tile installed in two places in our home. The person who installed them admitted (too late!) that he had no experience with this material.
In one location, he sealed with something that is now peeling away in pieces, and looks awful.
In the other location, there is no sealing at all. There is some staining, and scratching of the surface.
Over the years, we have simply accepted a botched job, but now I have found this forum, I wonder if someone could instruct us on how to restore the Saltillo. We really like the look of this tile. It would be wonderful if we could see it in its true beauty.

There are commercial products available for stripping, cleaning, and sealing saltillo tile. Go to www.aquamix.com/saltillo.htm to see such products.
