Question painting light colored kitchen tile floor

Our kitchen tile is very light. It is an off white/bisque. It is very hard to keep clean as our garage entry comes right into the kitchen and we have a dog. We do not plan on staying here for too long so we do not want to spend money re-tiling or putting in hardwood floors. Does any one have any other inexpensive ideas/solutions? I was thinking of painting the floor. Maybe by rubbing some type of various brown, and terricota shades of paint or shoe polish and then trying to seal the floor somehow. I was wondering if anyone new if this is possible and if anyone has done this what kind paint and sealer did they use. Please respond.
