Vanity top

I have an oak vanity 21x33 and want to build a top.

For the top this is what I plan to do.
1. Use 3/4 particle board with another 3/4 piece around the edges, total thichness 1.5".
2. From HomeDepot get Wonder Board (thin dura-rock) and glue/screw it to the top.
3. Put quarry tile on the top. This tile is about 1/4"thick. The total vanity top is approaching 2".
4. Make a splashback out of 3/4 particle and half cut quarry tile.
5. Trim everything in oak, 45 bevel edge.

Is the almost 2" for the top too much?
Should the splash be thicker then 3/4(pboard) + 1/4(quarry)?

Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi
That looks good to me..except for the particle board..that stuff is bad. Switch it to 5/8 plywood...it's much better..and saves you a bit of thickness.
