tile over tile?
#1

I am currently in the process of remodelling my bathroom. I am getting ready to tile the floor which is only an area of about 4'x4'.
It is already tiled with small tiles. The floor is very level and the tiles are securely attached yet. I am going to a 4"x4" tile and my question is..Do I have to rip up the old tile or can I just tile over it? The height of the floor is not a problem. I was told by a guy at Home Depot that it shouldnt be done because the tile will pop up. I am looking for some more opinions on this subject.
Thank you

I also like to flatcoat the surface with modified thin-set the day before I tile it. Wheather you do it that way or not, make sure your existing floor is as clean as it can possibly be. If it's not your thin-set will not have as much bond strenth.
