tiling around diagonal sink

tiling around diagonal sink
I am going to tile a L shaped countertop with a diagonal sink in the corner. Should I tile all the countertop diagonally or what should I do around the sink if I tile the traditional pattern. Will this be difficult?

Hi
The pattern is up to you...lay some out on the counter in a few different areas...move them around to see if you like how it looks.
The best thing you can do is to remove the sink first...tile around the opening, and then re-install the sink. You can't really cut the tile around it,without having some odd cuts showing, The edge of the sink will cover all the cut tiles, leaving a nice clean look.

Thanks for reply. At least you did not give any dire warnings. My concern on the diagonal is that everything you read says to start from the front edge with full tiles and unless I'm crazy, with the diagonal pattern you will have cut tiles at the front edge. I am also toying with idea of doing the standard on the straight counters and diagonal just on the sink base. We are installing new sink so that is no problem (or so I say). May have more questions after the weekend. Depends on how badly we srew up. Thanks again.
