I want to put up a border but am unsure at what height to do it. At about eye level, maybe slightly higher is an area of bad looking wall that I want to cover. Is this an okay height to hang the border? Any suggestions?

melissa, I don't think you would like the border that high, but it depends on what else is on the walls AND what you like.

Normally the border is about 1/3 of the way up the wall - chair rail height. Aesthetically, dividing the wall into 1/3 - 2/3 looks best.

Alternatively, the border is at the top of the wall.

A border won't hide the flaws. First, do what you can to repair the walls. A skim coat of joint compound works wonders.

Then do a rag-roll or sponge paint job or stencils on the wall.
