Question

We have old wide board pine(?)panelling in several rooms and it's way too dark for our tastes and number of available lamps! Is it possible to paper over it without prepping first with a product like Kilz..provided we wash the walls and use a liner paper? If not...any other suggestions?

patcox, You will have to prep the wood to make the liner bond just as you would for paper. Get R-35(Sherwin-willaims) or BITE PRIMER(Lowes, Home Depot). This is water based and is painted on very easily. The only glue I use on liner is clay based. Sherwin-Willaims or pro paint stores are the place to get it.....Mike

Hi Patcox,
Just a question, would you like the paneling if it were a natural pine color? I'm not sure how big of a project this might be, but have you thought about bleaching the pine paneling to lighten it up? I can't recall the brand but they make a product to mix with water to bleach wood.
