border removal & textured walls

I am trying to remove what looks like a self stick border on a textured wall. It is not going well! The border seems to be cemented to the wall. Is there any way to remove this with out ruining the textured wall?

Try the heat of a hair dryer to loosen the glue.

It helps to get the adhesive wet. If water won't penetrate the paper take an utility knife to lightly score the paper to allow moisture to get to the adhesive. You can buy a wallpaper removal 'wheel' which has blades set to the correct depth. This allows you to score the paper to the correct depth without going too deep and harming the wall itself.

Once the border is removed, what should be done to remove any excess adhesive on the textured wall?.....

You can usually remove the adhesive with a wet rag - be sure to rinse frequently. Any build up of adhesive can be removed with a broad knife first.
