You can pick up a wallpaper tiger at the local paint/wallpaper shop. The tiger makes tiny holes in the wallpaper. The more holes, the better. Fill a large spray bottle or garden spray with warm water and dish liquid. Soak the wallpaper. Use a plastic scraper to prevent scratching the tiles. If you see that the paper tiger is scratching the tiles, soak along the edge of paper and pry up with plastic scraper, pulling, spraying, pulling, until paper is removed.

You can find tips for wallpaper removal on this website at http://www.doityourself.com/stry/howtoremovewallpaper
Do not mix water with vinegar, because vinegar is acidic and will etch marble because it is a limestone. If soapy water does not seem to be working well, the paint/wallpaper shop should have DIF, an enzyme based wallpaper remover.

Once all glue residue has been rinsed from marble tile walls, clean, polish (if needed), keep sealed and maintained only with products recommended for natural stone. You can read about these at www.stonecare.com
