Question

We have just removed wallpaper from our bathroom and have some very messed up walls. We used DIF to help remove the adhesive but in the process of
removing the adhesive much of the sheetrock peeled away. Someone suggested that we apply speckling and then sand the walls. We'd like to paint the walls instead of papering. Our house is 27 yrs old and the wallpaper appears to have been there since then. Any suggestions as to what we could try or is it time to call in the professionals?

Carter, Remove any loose material and prime with an oil primer such as KILZ. At this point lightly scrape the walls to remove the highest points and fill with drywall compound. It will probably take two coats in most areas......Mike
