Question

I am going to hang a wallpaper with a very dark green (almost black) background. The personnel at the home improvement store said that primer/size could not be tinted dark enough and that I should use latex satin tinted to the background color. How long should I allow the paint to cure on the wall before I start hanging the wallpaper?

Karyl, I hope you havn't had satin paint made yet! Although many will tell you paper can be installed on egg, satin and sometimes glossier I can tell you problems do happen more often over these surfaces than a good flat finish. The paint store is correct in that primers are hard to tint beyond a medium color. Get a good exterior grade flat latex and let it cure a day or two. You'll be glad you did...Mike
