I have just purchased some industrial wallpaper. I want

You'll need to lightly sand the surface to get good adhesion first.
Rub with sandpaper or use an electric sander. Then wipe down the walls and leave to dry.
If the paper you are using is heavy then you need to make the wallpaper paste a little bit thicker by adding less water when you mix.
