Applying Wallpaper to plywood

In a new room I would like to apply wallpaper onto a plywood-sheathed wall yet I am wary that although I will try to smooth out the plywood surface, the hung wallpaper will not be as smooth as on drywall. What products do the best job of smoothing out the plywood surface so the hung wallpaper look and feels smooth as if applied onto drywall?

Personally, I hate wallpaper (based on having to remove it...). Is there any way to talk you out of wallpaper in the first place?

I agree with Mitch but if your mind is made up there IS a product called lining paper or blocking paper that you can apply first and then the finish paper over. The lining paper is thick enough to prevent the roughness of the plywood (or the seams) from showing through. Ask at a wallpaper store, the mega-mart homecenter may not know what you are talking about.
