Pulled off old wallpaper and painted, but have a weird texture?

The wallpaper was 40yrs old and was dried up and just pulled off rather easy. Everything came off so we painted, but noticed it leaves a bit of a texture of the wallpaper (the grid dimples). Is it ok to leave it like this?

I suspect you didn't remove all of the adhesive - that normally takes scrubbing with water and plenty of rinsing. Since it's already been painted, a sanding and another coat will help but the only way to make it smooth would be to skim coat, sand, prime and paint.

Now that you've painted there isn't really any going back. Ideally as MarkSr mentioned the glue would have been removed before painting. Now that it's painted I'd just leave it and tell everyone you wanted to have that texture.
