Paintable SMOOTH wallpaper

I have an old bathroom that has alot of patchable nail holes and dents in the drywall. I am finishing up a remodel and my thought is to cover the walls with paintable wallpaper. 1 wall textured/patterned paper and the other 3 smooth paper. Heres the question. I have never seen smooth paintable wallpaper applied and painted. I keep having these ideas that the seams are going to be very noticable and Im not sure I will be happy with that. Has anyone done this and can report back what it looked like complete. I cant even find any images online of what the finished product looks like.

My painter ensures me he can mend the walls and make them look fine to apply paint alone but I have little faith. Lol!!! PLEASE offer feedback. Negative/Positive I just want to hear some thoughts on this. Any pictures would be awesome.

They make a smooth paper that is mainly used to go over cracked/weak plaster. While I've never hung it, I've painted over it a few time and it looks good.

IMO you are better off repairing the walls and skip the paper. Defects in the wall's finish often telegraph thru wallpaper. Some painters are pretty good at drywall finishing. Have you seen his drywall work? If you don't trust him to do a good job you could hire a drywall finisher.
