Removing Grasscloth Wallpaper

I have recently moved into a house with grasscloth wallpaper in the kitchen. I assume this was put in when the house was new (18 years ago). I would like to know if removal of grasscloth is the same as regular wallpaper(steaming,ect.).

Hi katie85000, Grass is stripped the same way as regular paper. Do a small test area because people often think since grass is so thick no priming is needed and if this is the case removing it does a pretty good job on the walls.....Mike

The foyer walls in the 1912 house we are about to buy are wallpapered over plaster. Removing the wallpaper could be a disaster (and our budget cannot handle having the have all of the walls re-plastered). Is there a good way to prep the walls to paint over the paper without removing it? I understand that an oil based primer is likely the best thing. Any suggestions?

Do I have to soak border in water or can I just put adhesive on it and hang it? Also how exactly to I fold it to work with a long piece? thanx in advance.....
