Question removing a wall

I am trying to install a bathtub surround in my bathroom. (That part, I can do) I took the tile off the wall last night as I feared the tile was leaky. I was correct, my wall is black and wet.

My questions are:

1) How do I remove large sections of drywall?
2) Should I have any fear of what is behind that moldy drywall?

Thanks in advance

You need to be on the lookout for electrical and or plumbing lines that may be behind the drywall. As for removing it, you can cut 1/2" drywall with a sharp utility knife. To do this, I have cut the edges and then broken out the drywall in the center.

Good Luck.

Provide good ventilation and wear a real respirator if the mold is extensive.
