Cool Extend wall over raised slab...

Hi,

While tearing out the old carpeting (which ran up the walls about 6 inches) in our 70s-era sunken den, we discovered that the sheetrock ends about 6.5 inches above the floor and rests on a 1/2" thick piece of wood, which rests on a slab of concrete that is about 6 inches high. I would like to extend the wall down to the floor by adding a 6-inch strip of sheetrock along the bottom. To do this, I need to shave/sand back this newly exposed slab along one of the inside walls (one section of the slab juts out 1/2" past the sheetrock, while another section is about flush with the sheetrock. What tools can I use to do this?

Thanks,
Kim

kim goodman,

It sounds like hammer and cold chisel time if it's not too much area. Is it is, go to your local tool rental center for a electric tool.

Good Luck!
