Thumbs down Drywall Repair Over Door Frames

We are first time home buyers and have really been taken advantage of by the previous owners. All of the "hiding" repairs they did are starting to come out we are getting cracks on each side of the door frame to the ceiling. What can we do to fix this problem? AND some of the drywall sheet are bowing inward??
Any advice would be appreciated.

well to take care of the cracks you first must mud and tape them after thats dry you will need to apply a fresh coat of mud around the door frame then sand & Paint.

Now as far as the BOW'S that your talking about does it appear that some studs may not have been installed?

Or could it be that there is a BUTT joint there "2 pieces of sheetrock Meet" and the person that did the finishing did not Complete it.

Just pry back you Base moulding a little and see if there is a drywall joint right there.

if so grab a 10" or larger drywall knife and apply joint compound to Both sides of the hump and repeat till finished.
