Post ceilings and walls

The walls in my upstairs bathroom seem to separating from the ceiling. There is a gap between the two ranging anywhere from a hairline crack to about 1/4 inch. Even the tile that surrounds the tub is separating from each other. One wall is even slightly higher than the other two. This has just happened. There was no separation during the summer and it has been a mild winter by minnesota standards. The walls that are affected are common walls with other rooms but the separation is only happening on the bathroom side. What is happening here and how can I fix it?
