Walls & Ceilings

I was wondering if anyone could give me an answer to drywalling.

I just built and addition and have 2ft centers and was wondering what the best route would be in drywalling the ceiling?

Thanks but what I was really looking for was information on preping the rafters for hanging the drywall on the ceiling. Most ceilings are 16" centers and we went with 2ft centers and wanted to know the most effective way to hang the drywall.

no prepping is needed. get 5/8" thick sheetrock and a lift. hang it perpendicular to the ceiling joists and stagger the butt joints.

put up insulation and vapor barrier before you drywall.

Just one additional question. Do I need to use furring strips? or cross supports? Or can we just secure the drywall to the joists?

Nope all new construction with pre-made trusses.

Thanks for your help, my husband I were having a difference of opinion and I had owned a construction business before I met him and he is always listening to some bozo trying to sell him more materials LOL. I thought maybe something had changed in the last 7 years that I didnt know about.

I would have one less ex-husband if I had figured this out sooner.

Things are not worth arguing about just provide proof in black and white of anothers opinion its worth a million bucks and less aggravation. ; 0 )

Shortly I will be replacing the ceiling in my basement (burst pipes are so much fun). My wife has decided to add to my dilema by requesting that I replace the wood paneling on the walls with drywall while I am at it. As I was getting the room ready I was tearing off the wood paneling to see what was beneath. It appears that there is some 2" styrofoam insulation then the foundation wall (standard cinderblock & mortar). The wood paneling was merely glued to the styrofoam. I am hesitant, however to just glue the drywall to the insulation. Is that the proper method, or is there a better way? Thanks in advance for any information you can provide.

It seems it is hard to get a good job done so I am attemptingto undo a wall with 2x4's. The contractor glued wall covering to this wall and it started to remove itself. Therefore, I tore it all off. Wow, what a job. Now the wallboard is off and the old insulation is out. I have r13 to replace it (per lowe's). The question (after all that) is when the wallboard is attached to the studs, can the wallboard touch the foundation or must it be above the foundation?. Anything else you know will be appreciated. I hope you understand this. I'm just learning.:rolleyes:
