more on the immitation panelling removal

What can be used to remove adhesive that remains on the painted drywall after removing the panelling? My wall almost looks as though it needs to be retextured but someone said I should try to remove the glue. Is there anything that will dissolve it?

You can scrape and sand off the old glue. I don't know of a solvent.

Facing the same problem on 3 walls in my house as well. What a PITA!

One thing we have done is used a palm sander on the glue - seems to work well. Wear a dust mask so you don't inhale the construction adhesive dust! Once I finish the sanding, I plan on doing a skim-coat on the walls (to even it out).
