Ceiling repair
Hello all, I'm 25 and am in the process of buying my first home. it's a condo in new jersey. My question is:
There is a tiled ceiling right now, with little water damage to the original sheet rock ceiling. I would love to be able to fix this myself, but do not know anything about these things. Are there any type of cheap classes to take for this type of stuff? any good books with good pictures, videos, etc?? The tiled ceiling runs through the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Its all connected. I don't like tiled ceiling, so i really want to remove them and repair any damage. My only other option will be to hire someone to do this, but like i said, i'd love to learn how to be my own handy man.
I don't move in till april 1st, so i'm just in the process of getting my info together to make a decision on what to do once i move in. I want to get the ceiling done and paint before my carpet and furniture come. I'm hoping to get this done within 3 days.
any ideas on how to learn?

Warning - hard work ahead. You can pull down the tiles and scrape the mastic off the sheetrock. Repair any damage to the sheet rock with joint compound and primer. By water damage if you mean water stains, a stainkiller primer such as Kilz will stop the transmission of the stains through the finish paint. If the sheetrock needs replacing in some spots, just cut out the bad, set a new piece in, tape and mud it, prime and paint.
I don't know of any books on this subject. Lowes and Home Depot sell some fix it books, and there may be some DIY websites that can help.
