Removing a dog door- how to repair wall?

Removing a dog door- how to repair wall?

I would like to remove a dog door that is installed in a wall to my house. I am wondering if anyone has any advice on how to reseal the hole in the wall once I remove it. The only thing I can think of is to get a piece of plywood and nail it over the hole, which wouldn't be very attractive. Any advice?

I guess I'd frame it, insulate it, plastic wrap it, then either drywall it or do whatever it takes to match the existing wall. I'm guessing it's an indoor/ outdoor door.
