Got the Wallpaper Off? Now..

We got all the wallpaper off. My wife, being kinda over zealous, took some of the wallpaper off down to the brown backing on the drywall. Do we need to do anything special to these areas before we try and have the wall textured? Should we seal with paint or do we need to spread joint compund over these areas and trowel first? Thanks in advance comrades.

Some people wallpaper over drywall. We tear off nice wallpaper to try and get back textured walls. Weird huh.

Ah that happens to the best of us.

Yes you'll need to fill any gouges or holes with drywall mud or spackling. Let dry and sand smooth. You'll need to primer it prior to painting. Personally I'd do the spray & knock-down, let dry completely, then shoot primer & let dry, then paint.
Good luck.
