Wood ceiling
I am considering buying a very rustic cottage. The ceiling is not finished, all joists are visible. My guess is that drywall will not look good. What are my option for a wood looking ceiling? Can I instal panels? Do I have to drywall it first?

You can install plywood panels over the ceiling joists or a tongue and groove board ceiling. The local code will tell you if the ceiling needs underlying sheetrock for fire safety.
