Mud and tape or paneling?

I just finished installing sheetrock on the walls and ceiling in my attached garage. Ultimately there will be paneling on the walls and a painted ceiling. I already plan to mud and tape the ceiling, but my question is should I mud and tape the walls, or just put up the paneling?

There is one shared wall to the interior of the house that has 5/8" and three exterior walls that have 1/2". I'm thinking that I should at least mud and tape the interior wall.

Any suggestions?

Thanks, Rob

I would mud and tape to seal the obvious openings to stop air intrusion under the panels.

If you're gonna cover it with paneling you can just use duct tape to cover the seams. I've done this before in a log home that was getting a pine beadboard for the finish walls.
