Drywall drop ceiling

I'm trying to decide between using a contractor to install a drywall drop ceiling or trying to do it myself. A contractor quoted me a price of $3300 to frame, drywall, primer paint, etc. for just about at 6' x 6' x 6" area. That seems extreme, but I'm not sure. Does this estimate sound right?

Verify your measurements. So far, you have 2 sheets of drywall, about a short roll of tape, 1 lb of dry mix, for a materials cost of less than $25. With that labor quote, I don't care where you live, I'll move there tomorrow. Something is wrong.
