Wall and Header Question
In our new bathroom, a wall will go across it 6'8" to form the shower wall and in the middle will be a 30" opening. The ceiling is a cathederal one, and the ceiling height at this wall location is about 9 feet. We think we want to stop this wall short of the ceiling. Maybe stick with a standard door framing height for the shower entrance, and have a header above to tie the walls together. What would be the normal diminsions of this header? Would it typically be like the top plates? I thought two 2x6s together setting on edge would look better - but I don't know without trying it.
